Pan Africanism started after the slave trade has finally come to an end. It originated from the writing of the ex - slaves and felt the need to rebut claims of how inferior Africans were. Pan-Africanists started to unite all Africans and had ask to be given rights by the countries that had adopted them. Blyden and James Africanus Beale Horton had wrote the about the African patriotism as well as wrote for Africa's independence from its European colony.
