Which statements describe sustainable development? Fishing does not catch more fish than the number of fish that will be born to replace them. Sustainable development is development that is designed to improve the economic conditions of populations in the world's less-developed countries (LDCs). Sustainable development is mainly a local issue. Sustainable development means water use is kept at a level that doesn't reduce the amount available for future use. Sustainable development policies must consider both environmental protection and economic development. Trees cannot be cut down at a rate

"Sustainable development policies must consider both environmental protection and economic development." The reason they must consider the environment is because if development is done while wrecking the local environment (such as trees and water sources), then that development is unsustainable in the future.
