Why did voter participation in elections increase dramatically between 1824 and 1840?

    Voting was opened to more people.--Jackson's form of democracy included taking away the land requirement for voting.

    As more states chose to take away the land requirement for voting, more participation in voting occurred. White men, 21 and older were eligible to vote creating more participation.
