Why did slavery grow to be such an important institution in colonial america? what were the effects of slavery on the africans who were brought to the new world?

    Since slavery in America was a result before of colonization of countries (Spain, Portugal, England, etc) before to Indian Americans, this in turn became an accepted norms when the Africans were brought to the new world. In effect, this made the sufferings of Africans harsher.
