Jules Ferry wanted to explore and expand the French colonies in order to create an empire for economical benefits. To put it frank, he wanted to take everything he could from Africa so that he could achieve this goal. He believed he was of a superior race and it was his duty, and because of this he took control of many different areas in Africa.
