What is apparent from your analysis of Lincoln's claim?

After reading the claim, it is apparent to me that Lincoln had long favored giving compensation for slave owners that experience trouble of the freedom.

Lincoln aware that freeing the slaves might hurt the economy in several sectors because slavery was considered as 'a norm' back then even though he himself believe that slavery is really evil.
