The Mongols struggled to govern such an enormous empire.

Mongolian empire fell apart in 1241, death of Ögedei Khan broke many disputes between the candidates for the throne. That is why the army of Batu Khan left the conquered areas on in Europe and returned to asian steppes. When the Mongols withdrew from Europe there were plans of their alliance to liberate the Holy Land from the Turkish rule. However, the attempts of the Pope and the King of France failed because huge empire has progressed in the breakup. At the end of the fourteenth century Timur (Tamerlane) wanted to rebuild empire. He conquered Iran, India and defeated the Turkish army in Asia Minor. He also wanted to take China but plans thwarted by the death of the ruler. Successors did not know how to keep the unity of the state that in the coming years lost importance and territories
