President Eisenhower enforced the Brown vs. Board of Education case that desegregated public schools by sending the US National Guard to Arkansas to enforce the ruling.

Before the US National Guard arrived, the governor of Arkansas used the Arkansas Guard to stop 9 African-American students from integrating into a previously all white high school, known as Central High School. Eisenhower felt that this was unacceptable based on the Supreme Court ruling in Brown vs. Board. So he sent in the US National Guard to personally escort these 9 African-American students into Central High School.
