Why did the Supreme Court overturn the conviction of Ernesto Miranda in 1966? Explain the important change to police arrest procedure that resulted from the Miranda decision.

    The Supreme Court overturned because it was proven that Ernesto's confession was not voluntary and that he was never told that he can consult an attorney or that he can remain silent if he wishes to. His basic rights were infringed and that is why now every police officer has to read a detainee their Miranda Rights.
