How did greek politics change by the end of the peloponnesian war?

The Peloponnesian Wars which lasted for three decades and was fought between rival Greek city-states Athens and Sparta and their subsequent allies, came about as a result of the power vacuum left following the Grecco-Persian Wars. Athens and Sparta both experienced a surge in power and status following the Grecco-Persian War and saw each other as rivals and eventual adversaries. However, Athens exhausted it's population and economic reserves engaging in battle with Sparta and her allies, leaving the Atheanins at mercy of the Spartans, who now were capable of dominating the region.

Prior to the Peloponnesian Wars the two main Greek powers, Athens and Sparta dominanted politics and economics of most Greeks, with Athens hold the main seat of influnce. However, following the wars Sparta now held this seat of power in Greece, while Athens would be forced to rebuild its city and status.
