    John L. Lewis was the man who became a hero to many in organized labor as a result of the coal miners' strike of 1919.

    He was actually the leader of organized labor at the time and represented the rights and wishes of the workers at the time. During this strike, around 400,000 miners left their jobs to fight against the tyrants.
