    In AD 1066, the Norman invasion of Britain overpowered the Saxon-Dane rulers. They brought with them the feudal system of government or feudalism. They establish the King of England. From then, England was changed for ever. Normans spoke a variant of Frankish language or French and were known to build castles everywhere, which served as the main form of defense. In the feudal system of government, commoners worked and fought for nobles in exchange for protection and the use of land.
