Why is it significant that rice was japan's main import from korea? koreans disliked rice and despised japan for making them grow it. korea had been exporting rice to many other countries. in korea, it is considered an insult to make someone else grow your food. it caused a monoculture in korea, which disrupted its economy?

    In Korea, it is considered an insult to make someone else grow your food. Koreans are very critical of rice and growing it that recently there was a protest following a farmers death.
