Why did the u. s. become involved in afghanistan?

    In Afghanistan, there was a Taliban Government, which supported terrorism around the world. At the time, Al Qaeda, was provided shelter there and they kept Osama Bin Laden. They refused to hand him over after 9/11 happened, and yeah. I don't know all the details, but that's the sum up I think.
