World War ll really set the stage for the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950's and 1960's. It was really a set forward toward equality. African Americans were given more job opportunities since many white men were fighting overseas. Also, for those serving in the war, President Franklin Roosevelt issued an order for all branches of the military and every unit to be integrated. No longer did blacks have their own regiments.
