The Battle of Hastings
Explanation:
On October 14, 1066 the Battle of Hastings took place. It was fought between the Norman-French and the Anglo Saxons, because William of Normandy wanted the English (Anglo-Saxon) throne. He defeated the Anglo Saxons and became the King of England. This ended the Anglo Saxons 600 year rule, and it changed the language to become English as we know it today.
