Mutation can be defined as the permanent change or alternation in the DNA sequence of a human being. Mutations can be of different forms and types, ranging from the alternation of one single DNA string to the changes in entire genetically map. It can also alter multiple genes as well.
Mutation when occurred in non reproductive cells is known as Somatic Mutations which further are not transferred to the next generation, whereas, mutations effecting the reproductive cells, eggs or sperm, known as Germ Line Mutations are passed on to the offspring's.
Examples are, sickle cell anemia, cystic fibrosis, color-blindness, Tay-Sachs disease and Phenylketonuria.
