The Watergate scandal can be considered to be a sign of strength in American democracy and government to a greater extent. This is because, it was able to unify the people aand their leaders by showing that, despite the shortcomings in democracy being practiced then, it was still able to rally the people together.

The new president elected tried all his best to heal the wounds the scandal caused by pardoning the previous president as well as tried his best to make open some of the policies and actions of the American government.

The Watergate scandal can be considered a sign of weakness in the American democracy & government in that it was hidden by the government officials that tried everything to maintain the issue as a secret until the Washington Post revealed the scandal. Journalists Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward revealed that President Nixon had a role in the conspiracy and knew about the trespassing of thieves into the Democratic National Committee on June 17, 1972.

After this revelation, millions of Americans felt disillusioned with American politics and the way their officials tried to lie or manipulate the information. This scandal represented a hard hit to American politics.
