    Explanation:

    Chariot races were held in ancient Rome in the town's circus. Circuses were oval shaped arenas and had a stone barriers in the middle. The chariot drivers raced at top speed round the arena and they were allowed to bump and ram into each other. The chariots often overturned after collisions, if a chariot overturned it was called naufragia (Shipwreck), it was common to get killed during the race.

    Bread and Circuses programs were chariots and gladiator games that provided entertainment for poor Romans. Roman emperors were aware that the uprisings and rebellions from the people could be dangerous and risk the stability of the empire. So they devised "Bread and Circuses" programs to distract the poor Romans.
