Most laws are meant to promote the general welfare or protect society from an evil. Did Jim Crow laws serve these purposes? If so, how? If not, what was their purpose?

    Jim Crows laws did not serve any of those purposes. Jim Crow laws enforced racial segregation in education, housing, transportation, and public facilities. Its purpose was to basically create a second class and maintain white supremacy.
