Scopes Trial was also called Scopes Monkey Trial. It was the case between The State of Tennessee v. John Thomas Scopes

Explanation:

It was a famous American case which accused John Scopes, who was a teacher for teaching Charles Darwin' theory of evolution which was against the Tennessee Butler Act. This trial attracted too much publicity for a small town called Dayton in Tennessee.

Actually Scopes was uncertain whether he had actually thought the theory of evolution but he appeared in front of the court as though he had committed a crime and many defense lawyers appeared arguing in favor of him. The court found Scopes to be guilty and fined him and the case had attracted huge attention nationally that many reporters came to Dayton and also the names of the lawyer who attended for and against him also became famous.
