The Table 8 of Roman law states that, "A person who had been found guilty of giving false witness shall be hurled down from the Tarpeian Rock.". Eventhough this is not the exact punishment given for false witness today, there are few contracts and law that are set up in the US law to deter citizens from giving false witness. The Table 1 law of ancient Rome is that "There shall be the same right, for a staunch person and for a person restored to allegiance, of bond and conveyance with the Roman people" the 14th Amendment of the United States Constitution is similar to the stated Table 1 law stating that everyone has equal protection under the law.
