    The glorious revolution, also called the revolution of 1688 was the replacement of James II from the English throne by his daughter Mary and her husband William Orange. This brought a more liberal monarchy that was more constrained by the parliament compared with the previous monarchies.

    This was a bloodless revolution even though there were casualties afterwards. Prior to this the monarchies did not see the need to respect the decisions of the parliament. The glorious revolution marked a new beginning.
