Organizing sit-ins, marching from one city to another, hosting public gatherings

While violent civil rights movements existed, the bigger strategies were non-violent. Sit-ins were used. The Greenboro sit-ins lasted many days and gained hundreds of supports. On March 35th 1965 thousands of people marched for five days from Selma to Montgomery in Alabama uniting many organizations protesting for their rights. Public gatherings were also prominent. The march on Washington, in 1963, saw 200,000 people peacefully gather and hold talks in Washington, D. C.
