Why was slavery important to the united states during and after the civil war

    It was important in civil war as it marked the division of the northern and southern states.

    The struggle between the north and the south took place so that one was against slavery and the other in favor, although both had slaves, which made them hypocrites because the only reason they wanted to abolish slavery was because in the others slavery gave more profit.
