The shameful episode of fighting between English colonial settlers and the native tribe of the Powhatan people near the settlement known as Jamestown lasted from 1622 and 1644. These acts of brutality against the native population should be remembered more, alongside more noble acts, to remind us that colonial occupation is not great thing and often results in horrible acts of genocide.
