How did the varnas affect ancient and their civic choices

The Varnas also known as the caste system affected the ancient world and its inhabitants choices in many ways such as getting destined way of life, pre-chosen profession and following certain customs and beliefs. The ancient people could not choose their own lifestyle freely.

There were four Varnas namely the Brahmins, Khatriyas, Vaishyas and Shudras. Each varna had its profession and status in society decided beforehand so all that the newborns had to do was to follow. People were identified by their varna and their professional and personal life also depended upon the customs of the varna so the people got as much freedom as their varna let them have.
