The rulers in both empires were Sunni Muslims

    Explanation:

The Mughal Empire which was primary located in Turkestan but then moved to most parts of India and Pakistan, brought Islamic religion to South Asia during the 16th and 17th centuries. Although the majority of the population were Hindus, the rulers of the empire were able to spread their Islamic eastern culture, traditions and faith in the entire empire.

On the other hand, Songhai was another empire that consisted of an Islamic government in the west of Africa. This goes back to the birth of the empire as it all started when prince Sunni Ali escaped from the Mali Empire and founded the Songhai Empire by uniting several small regions. After him, many devoted Islamic emperors ruled the territory, where they focused on African cultures along with the Islamic faith and laws.
