When immigrants came to America, children often had to get jobs in places such as factories. The main reason for this was that immigrant families struggled to find stable, good-paying jobs. Wages were very low, and the working conditions were often terrible. Moreover, competition was high, and immigrants often possessed few demanded skills. This meant that families often received very little money for their work, and children needed to work as well in order to support their families. In migrating to other country, new life as an immigrant would be so expensive and would harsh because of the cost of living and rent in that country. That's why children, at a right age, would force to have a job to support their family needs.
