It celebrates the end of slavery. It is done through a festival to celebrate black heritage. Including food, dance, socialization and sharing of stories.

Juneteenth is a holiday that is commemorating Union Army General Gordon Granger announcing that all slaves in Texas are free on June 19, 1865.
