There were no bad guys or good guys in World War I, only people and nations that didn't know how to solve their differences without a war. However, the best way to separate the sides is:
Triple Entente - France, Russia, and Britain
Triple Alliance - Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy
Explanation:
Several problems were affecting major European nations in the early 20th century. The previous century had left wounds that were difficult to heal. Political and social beliefs, but especially the nationalism aroused between the nations lead them to the war.
