Southerners opposed to developing industry in the south for all of the following reasons except

a. Much of the land was already being used for cotton and crop production.

b. Many felt that their identity as southerners were tied to agriculture and plantation life.

C. Much of their money was already invested in agriculture and slave labor.

d. They felt it would put them in competition with the north.
