Oh brother the two main objects of inequality back then was racism and homophobia. Back the people were not as open minded as today and they were prejudiced against this type of stuff. You can mainly blame Christianity or most forms of religion who teach people what is wrong or what is right. But women were able to start getting jobs so that was cool back then.
