To establish a colony for free blacks in the United States was the goal of the American Colonization Society (ACS)

    Explanation:

During this time, the ACS was created by individuals, for example, Robert Finley, to free slaves and sends them back to Africa. They needed to do this to free the slaves. However, they would not like to seek occupations, houses, and so forth with the African Americans, so they chose the ideal path was to send them back to where they originated from Africa.

In spite of the fact that their expectations may have been thought great, the African Americans would not like to leave America.
