Which area is described by this passage? This warm, wet habitat harbors more biodiversity than any other place on earth. More than 30 million species of insects, 500 different mammals and almost that many reptiles, and one-fifth of the entire world's bird species make their home here. More than 500 species of trees grow in a single two-and-a-half acre plot. It generates 20 percent of the oxygen supply. About 20 percent of it has been destroyed in the past fifty years by loggers, farmers, and miners. Some scientists estimate that 130 species of plants, animals, and insects disappear from there every day.
