Why was slavery more prevalent in the south rather than the north?

    Because in the south they had better soil so growing crops such as cotton was more common so instead of farming that cotton themselves they would by slaves to do the work for them. in the north slavery wasn't popular because everything was made is factories and it was more technologically advanced so there was no need for slaves. therefore leading to slavery being more prevalent in the south than the north
