The Reconstruction was an important yet turbulent period that followed the Civil War. It lasted from 1865 to 1877 and it aimed to reintegrate the Southern States into the Union. The Reconstruction started with Lincoln but after his Assassination President Andrew Johnson made some rules less strict than before which opened a void which made possible the creation of several Black Codes and Jim Crow Laws. All of this also influenced the creation of the Klan. Due to that, the Congress took over the Reconstruction, a period called Radical Reconstruction. As a response to the Radical Reconstruction, violence erupted and the supremacist organizations started to target leaders and challenge authority.
