    The American Revolution was profoundly influenced by the Enlightenment movement, especially John Locke's philosophical thoughts. This can be easily seen in the Declaration of Independence where the Declaration states that the government is created by the people to protect their natural rights that are - life, freedom, and property - and if a government fails to protect those rights people have the right to create a new government.

    The American people were inspired by those thoughts which sparked the American Revolution against the British, which were denied the colonies many of those rights.
