    The advent of new mass media brought the popularity of many sports to a new height. Local games that could only be enjoyed by a few, became worldwide events for millions of people.

    One of the best examples is the FIFA World Cup, the major international association football competition in the world. The first World Cup in 1930 was celebrated when most of the media were printed, as radio and cinema was only becoming mainstream. With the first television broadcasts in 1954, the World Cup became the most widely viewed event in the world. The 2006 World Cup in Germany had a cumulative audience of 26 billion for its 64 matches, and 715 million for the final alone, which meant 1 out of every 9 people in the planet tuned in to watch the final match between France and Italy.

    Jazz age was considered to be a golden period when peoples love for music underwent a dramatic change and they sought to jazz music. The period of 1920 was so popular because the jazz music fascinated the youth of America and it was called 'Roaring Twenties'.

    Post world War One people sought to Jazz music which served to be the common preference for both Americans and Africans.

    Despite this connection, there was segregation based on their color and creed. African Americans were the first to establish such culture while singing when they were slaves.
