Yes, my great grandfather lived through the Great Depression.

Explanation:

While he did not live to see me he did tell the stories to my grandparents and parents. He lived in Idaho at the time, then Idaho was a poor state, still is, so life was already hard. My grandfather was a baker when the depression hit he was forced to close his bakery as people were unable to buy his pastries. While he was living off the money he saved he went around town finding left-over and extra baking supplies and made bread at his home and gave it out to people in the town. Eventually, he ran out of money and had to try and sell his home, and was unsuccessful since nobody was buying anything at that time. Luckily he found a job as a street sweeper for the city, while many large cities such as New York and Los Angeles had a huge job shortage, smaller / rural cities were able to hire people who were forced to close a business. So while the Great Depression was portrayed as this horrible experience for everyone, it hit harder in certain areas, many people in the rural areas had an easier time, I would say, than large city folks.
