Rome is located in the region of central Italy (Lazio region), on the Tiber river. Rome is located near the Tiber river which protected it from pirate attacks and it also provided the citizenship clean water and a good trade route toward the Mediterranean Sea.

Rome is built on several hills, which also gave them the opportunity to defend the city against all the enemies, along with mountains located in the peninsula.
