Why were diseases the greatest threat to the existence of American Indians?

    They probably couldn't have had any kind of medication that could prevent, heal, or make a disease go away. If it was a disease brought by Europeans, they would be at a greater threat since they've never encountered it before and have no immunity to it.

    Because the diseases were unknown to them, they spread easily and could kill off thousands of their kind.
