How was armistice day originally supposed to be celebrated

Armistice day is celebrated on 11 November every year to honor the people who served their countries in the First World War. It is celebrated as a national holiday in many allied countries and sometimes the country changed its name like in The United States it is named as Veteran Day.

The day was first celebrated on the morning of 11 November 1919 when King George Fifth of Britain hosting a banquet for the president of the French Republic at the Buckingham place and a two-minute silence was observed for those who died in war.
