Electricity was widely used in factories to power different machinery, as factories were just now starting to become very widespread and popular. The invention of the railroad system made it easier to transport products to different places and made smaller businesses thrive. The Bessemer process, which resulted in very mass productions of steel, were also very popular and being discovered during this time. The Bessemer process is when air is blasted through the steel mold to essentially get rid of any air bubbles, making for better, lighter, and more flexible steel to be used in factories to make different products.
