Know your score it is wise to scrutinize all your accounts don't fallto credit card promotions. every time you take out or cancel one it can have a major effect you keep info / in control of your credit balance

Pay your bills on time.
Keep balances low on credit cards relative to their credit limits.
Pay off debt rather than moving it around.
Don't open new credit cards just to increase your available credit.
Open new credit accounts only as needed.
