The introduction of the civil service allowed to improve the administration efficiency as qualified officials, the mandarins, were given the direct tasks of administration at the central and the provicen level. It also favored social mobility, because any educated man who was knowledgeable about the Confucian thought and classics could join the service if he passed the tests, no matter his social origin. At least in theory, because it was usually noblemen who had enough time and resources to dedicate themselves to the long and deep study of Confucian works.

In China, the civil service system was an important vehicle of social mobility instead of being hereditary.

    Explanation:

The civil service system changed China's government by giving chances to poor family youth to join high ranks by succeeding in the examination system. The success in the examination is focused only on one's ability and talent instead of focusing on royal family members.

The intention of social mobility through success in this system was the motivation to increase the literacy level in China.

This program of uniformity had an extremely powerful effect on Chinese society. The vital motivation for this uniformity was to control the power promoted by the civil service examination system.
