    Infrastructure are basic facilities and structures such as buildings, roads, power supplies etc which is necessary for society. During British rule infrastructure basic infrastructure such as railways, ports and telegraph, transport were developed to serve the colonial interest. It was not meant for serving the common people. There was shortage of roads, Railway was introduced in in 1850 and transform med the economy. It allowed people to to travel long distances and break the national barrier and in the commercialisation of agriculture, It affected the self sufficiency of the villages. The colonial government also took steps to improve sea lanes and inland trade. Postal services were also introduced but was insufficient.
