What do you think General Sherman meant when he stated "It is only those who have neither fired a shot or heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for more blood ... war is hell!" What was General Sherman warning against?

    I think he was warning against the people who wanted to keep fighting. The people who have never fired or heard a gun shot and/or has never heard the agony cries of the wounded. The people that think so lightly of war and didn't think of the sorrow of it. The people who don't know what war is really like.
