Day of the Dead (known as Día de los Muertos) is a three-day yearly festival celebrated October 31 to November 2, in which friends and family members who have died are being honoured. This practice started in Mexico and has spread to Latin America and the United States of America.

It was previously held during the summer until it was modified to coincide with Halloween, All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day all happening on October 31, November 1 and November 2 respectively.
