Roman Empire began when Augustus Caesar became the first emperor of Rome. This Empire ended in the West, when the last Roman Emperor whose name was Romulus Augustus was removed forcefully by Odoacer (Germanic King).

Even though the Eastern and Western Roman Empire shared a common political system and military they differed a lot in culture.

Western Roman Empire followed Latin as their language whereas Eastern Roman used Greek as their language and cultural elements. Eastern Roman Empire followed Orthodox Christianity and their origin was from Roman Catholicism.
